six ways to boost your happiness

Pick the strategy or strategies that suit you:

# 1. Cultivate optimism. Keep a journal in which you imagine and write about the best possible future for yourself, or practice looking on the bright side of every situation.

# 2. Nurture relationships. Pick a friendship or relationship in need of strengthening, and invest time and energy in healing, affirming, and enjoying it.

# 3. Replay and savor life’s joys. Pay close attention to and take delight in life’s momentary pleasures and wonders—through thinking, writing, drawing, or sharing with others. Use mindfulness techniques to help you focus on the here and now.

# 4. Do more activities that truly engage you. Be determined to increase the number of experiences at home and work in which you “lose” yourself, and that are challenging and absorbing.

# 5. Take care of your body. Engage in frequent physical activity, meditation, smiling, and laughter.
