We are in a news lull here in MM. Tomorrow will be U.S. Thanksgiving so if you want any of the fixings of the holiday, stop by and visit one of the CFA's from the states. I will be in the Port Hawkesbury office all afternoon but Kit will be home playing chef on the morrow.
What with being out of town, we have, for the first time ever, resorted to a bought apple pie for the holiday. It is from Costco in Moncton so it should be good. Price Club also offered meat tortieres, nut tarts and caramel apple tarts, all appealing, but we can only eat so much.
How did the Orangedale Tea And Sale go? Did you buy anything good there? What did you think of the standing angels? I rather liked the one with rastafarian locks. Did you get any baked goods? What did you find to take away? I'm sorry to have missed it but those things happen sometimes.
Looking at the weather forecast, we are in a warm spell until Saturday, with highs of 11 and 14, then temps will drop 10 degrees to a high of only 1 for Sunday. We may see snow and ice. Do you have your snow shovel handy? Bags of ice melter? Sand for traction? Firestarters and candles?
In the mailbox, we found the new "Criomagan Beinn a Tuath" community newsletter. If you did not receive a copy and would like one, just ask for it. I don't know who you'd ask but you could always start at the Post Office, there is likely a copy hanging there. There isn't much new, it contains mention of games night and birding and an appeal for help on the board. Jeff's still continuing with plans for the new building. It contains a copy of an old-timey recipe for gingersnaps from Jim Campbell's mother, it calls for 1 cup of bacon fat. I am looking forward to trying it, if I ever get that much bacon fat collected. It reminds me of cooking when I was growing up, we always had a can of drippings handy for cooking. Thank you, Jim, Pauline or Linda, for sharing that family recipe. - Maggie
