Marble Mountain Road Trash Pickup Week May 13 - 19

QuickImage Tags: Community Action

It's that time of year again - it's time to get out and collect the trash that has accumulated on the roadside and in the ditches over the past year.

I don't know the precise date for big trash pickup but it happens before the end of May. I will let you know when I find out.

Don't feel you have to stick to the pickup dates here, you can do it anytime. Just consider that the road trash pickup should be done before the end of the month. Pick a nice weather day and the chore will be enjoyable.

This is most easily done before the leaves come out on the bushes and other undergrowth.

Hi! My name is Janine Lock. I am a grade eleven student at SAERC and live in West Bay Marshes.

This year I was selected by the Nova Scotia International Student Program as one of 21 students to travel to Campeche, Mexico, for the purpose of being an active participant in a humanitarian project.

This year the money the group raises will go directly towards supporting a local center that provides after-school programs for approximately 80 families and access to technology and education for disadvantaged children and youth.

We will also be visiting and contributing to local orphanages, a youth cancer center and a high performance athletic camp that helps keep at-risk youth off the streets.

Our hope as a group is to raise around $22 000 so that we can really make a difference in the Campeche community.

My personal goal is to raise at least $1000! Please support me in achieving this goal!

Note: as soon as I can figure it out, I'll post a picture of the tee.

Please support Janine Lock and the Nova Scotia International Student Program by purchasing her tee shirts. You see a picture of the front of the tee here; I'll post the back in a subsequent message since the software allows only 1 picture per posting. She designed and printed the tees as a fund-raiser for the impoverished town of Campeche, Mexico, see her message below.

To raise these funds, I am making Marble Mountain Polar Bear Dip Commemorative t-shirts.

The t-shirts are $15 dollars each and come in black, dark blue, and red.

If anyone would like to order one or have further information, you can call me at 902-345-2981.
